Book is Done

Officially completed my second book.

It is now in the final stages of editing and (assuming all goes well) should be available Monday (definitely on Kindle bar some kind of unforeseen circumstance).

I am particularly excited about this book because it is about as well-timed as my previous one on the housing crash (which was released the day Lehman Brothers went bankrupt) and I believe it has the ability to really do some damage. Without giving it away, it may just become the most inciting, controversial book in a while. And, oh yes, it most definitely has that Cappy Cap charm about it. The charm that manages to enrage and piss off all the right people.

I am, however, asking a favor of anybody out there. Not to buy the book (though certainly feel free to do so when it's released), but rather come up with some ideas in terms of marketing. My goal is to make this book as successful as if it had been launched by a New York publishing house. The purpose being that if we can do that, it would hasten what I believe to be the inevitable demise of traditional publishing houses. That and if it sells 1 million copies I'm so retiring and never working again. Probably would just write more books.

In any case, fire away if you have any ideas. Radio show hosts that would be receptive to it. Bloggers I'm unaware of that might be willing to plug it. You name it.

Thanks for your help and continued readership,

El Capitan

If this book is aimed at the educational system, some promotional copies left laying about with a "Please take one" sign might well get people talking about it on campuses and the Internet.

Oh, so you El Rushbo now.

Have you thought about doing an IamA on Reddit? Frost from FreedomTwentyFive did one recently and got about a 1000 up points (whatever that is). He gave away a few free copies as well.
I don't visit reddit because of its hardcore lefty-ness, but it might be a good place to get some publicity.
Maybe make some more youtube videos like the ones you made before about crusaderism.

Call up Dennis Miller....see if you can get in some time his radio show to talk about the common thread running through the housing crisis and the education bubble.

Might be a long shot, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I don't know if you're talking about advertising as well, but Project Wonderful lets you bid on ad space, and your ad stays up until you're outbid. A lot of webcomics use the service, and you can get the small ads for a nickel, a lot of the time. Since the webcomics are so popular with the college kids, and your book is on education, $2 worth of ads might be a good investment.

Short and funny videos on youtube, something that could go viral, are the way to go.

I like the idea of a baby playing with the book and a parent trying to teach their kids to say "worthless".

Another idea...a guy gets gunned down in a dark alley (film noir style). As the gunman goes through his pockets, the narrator or the gunman says "if only Jimmy hadn't gone to college."

How you're going to do this in rural SoDak, I don't know.

You propose a revolution somewhat more difficult to achieve than the American Revolution.

I have just purchased the book on Amazon Kindle. Lots of luck.

Don't give out a few free copies-- give away entire chapters online, and encourage others to pass it around.

Easiest way (at least since you're giving yourself all of a week) would be a promotional facebook page where these chapters could be shared (ideally you would post some other content/commentary online and this would naturally lead them back to check out the book).

Look up case studies on Tucker Max and Timothy Ferriss for some more ideas..
